GHRP-6 (Growth Hormone Releasing Peptide-6) is a synthetic hexapeptide growth hormone secretagogue with historical significance: it was the compound through which GHS-R1a was originally identified and characterised, contributing to the discovery of ghrelin. Compared with second-generation secretagogues, GHRP-6 produces more pronounced appetite-related signalling alongside its growth hormone-releasing activity. FAB Research supplies GHRP-6 in a 10mg pre-filled metered research pen for scientific investigation.
GHRP-6 binds to GHS-R1a through G-protein-mediated signalling including phospholipase C and intracellular calcium mobilisation. Research describes growth hormone release via direct somatotroph action and reduced somatostatin tone. The literature consistently documents pronounced appetite stimulation reflecting ghrelin receptor agonism in hypothalamic circuits, and cortisol/prolactin elevation greater than later selective compounds. Additional studies report cytoprotective effects in cardiac and gastric models independent of growth hormone release.
A historically important literature spanning receptor discovery, endocrine pharmacology and cytoprotection research, with substantial independent replication. Receptor discovery: foundational work using GHRP-6 to identify GHS-R1a and subsequently ghrelin. Appetite research: studies on hypothalamic signalling and food intake. Cytoprotection: cardiac and gastric protective effects independent of GH release. Combination pharmacology: well-documented synergistic release with GHRH analogues. Note: listed by anti-doping authorities.
- 2.5 mg per application (one metered dose)
- 4 doses per pen (10 mg total)
- First-generation GHS-R1a agonist — foundational tool compound through which the ghrelin receptor was originally characterised
- Pre-filled sterile solution — no reconstitution step required
Storage: Store refrigerated at 2–8 °C in the original sealed box. Do not freeze. Protect from light.
- For in-vitro laboratory and preclinical research only — not for human or animal administration
- Listed by WADA — detection is established; historically and pharmacologically significant compound
- Appetite stimulation is pronounced (hypothalamic GHS-R1a mechanism) — hypothalamic signalling studies must account for this and include appropriate food-intake controls in animal models
- Cortisol and prolactin elevation are more pronounced than with Ipamorelin or GHRP-2 — relevant for studies requiring clean GH release without HPA axis co-stimulation
- Research and clinical data: pronounced appetite / hunger stimulation — characteristic GHS-R1a effect via hypothalamic circuits
- Water retention (consistent with GH axis activation)
- Flushing — more pronounced than GHRP-2 or Ipamorelin
- Transient cortisol and prolactin elevation: greater than later-generation selective compounds; documented in comparative studies
- Cytoprotective effects in cardiac and gastric models reported independently of GH release — separate research endpoint from endocrine activity
- Anti-doping listed: detection established
Effects listed are observations from published research literature and are not predictions for any specific use. All FAB Research products are for in-vitro laboratory research — not for human or animal administration.
