GHRP-2 (Growth Hormone Releasing Peptide-2) is a synthetic hexapeptide growth hormone secretagogue and potent agonist at GHS-R1a. As a second-generation compound it has been widely studied for its growth hormone-releasing activity, ghrelin receptor pharmacology and pituitary signalling. It occupies an important position in the class: more potent than early first-generation compounds and well characterised, but with a less selective endocrine profile than the later pentapeptide Ipamorelin. FAB Research supplies GHRP-2 in a 10mg pre-filled metered research pen for scientific investigation.
GHRP-2 acts as an agonist at GHS-R1a, initiating signalling associated with growth hormone release through direct somatotroph stimulation and suppression of somatostatin tone. The literature documents intermediate selectivity: growth hormone release is robust, with additional ACTH, cortisol and prolactin elevation — less than first-generation compounds but more than Ipamorelin. Appetite-stimulating effects consistent with ghrelin receptor agonism are reported, though less pronounced than with GHRP-6. Synergy with GHRH analogues acting through the separate GHRH receptor is well documented.
A moderate clinical literature including use as a pituitary function diagnostic agent, alongside preclinical characterisation of receptor pharmacology and comparative selectivity. Diagnostic research used GHRP-2 as a provocative agent in pituitary function testing. Comparative potency studies ranked its release magnitude against other ghrelin receptor agonists. Selectivity profile research documents intermediate ACTH/cortisol responses. Note: growth hormone secretagogues are listed by anti-doping authorities.
- 2.5 mg per application (one metered dose)
- 4 doses per pen (10 mg total)
- Second-generation GHS-R1a agonist — intermediate selectivity between GHRP-6 (first-gen) and Ipamorelin (selective)
- Pre-filled sterile solution — no reconstitution step required
Storage: Store refrigerated at 2–8 °C in the original sealed box. Do not freeze. Protect from light.
- For in-vitro laboratory and preclinical research only — not for human or animal administration
- Listed by WADA (World Anti-Doping Agency) — detection methods are established for competitive sports testing
- Used clinically as a pituitary function diagnostic agent — provides validated pharmacological reference data for GHS-R1a characterisation
- Intermediate selectivity profile: produces cortisol and prolactin elevation alongside GH release — account for these co-effects in study designs; control assays for ACTH/cortisol pathway if required
- Pituitary function diagnostic use: transient cortisol elevation — documented in clinical testing literature
- Transient prolactin elevation — intermediate (less than GHRP-6, more than Ipamorelin)
- Headache, water retention
- Flushing (less pronounced than GHRP-6)
- Injection site reactions
- Anti-doping listed: detection established; relevant where athlete biological samples are involved in research
Effects listed are observations from published research literature and are not predictions for any specific use. All FAB Research products are for in-vitro laboratory research — not for human or animal administration.
