AOD-9604 is a modified C-terminal fragment of human growth hormone (residues 176–191) with an added tyrosine. It retains the lipid-metabolism-associated region of hGH without the IGF-1-related growth activity and is used in vitro to study adipocyte lipolysis and lipogenesis pathways independent of GH-receptor-mediated growth signalling.

AOD-9604 corresponds to residues 176-191 of the human growth hormone C-terminus with an added N-terminal tyrosine residue. Research reports stimulation of lipolysis and inhibition of lipogenesis in adipose tissue models, apparently through beta-3 adrenergic receptor pathways rather than growth hormone receptor signalling — the central distinguishing feature from intact hGH. Studies consistently describe an absence of the IGF-1 elevation and glucose effects associated with the parent molecule, which is the research premise of the fragment: separating adipose-tissue activity from growth-promoting and metabolic effects of full-length growth hormone. Later work has additionally examined chondrocyte and articular cartilage matrix endpoints in joint models.

A moderate literature spanning three decades, with animal and early human data on adipose endpoints and a more recent line of investigation in cartilage research. Adipose research: studies on lipolysis and lipogenesis in rodent and in vitro fat cell models establishing the fragment-specific activity. Receptor specificity: research examining beta-3 adrenergic pathway involvement rather than GH receptor signalling. Metabolic safety profile: preclinical and clinical investigations consistently reporting absence of the IGF-1 elevation and glucose effects seen with intact hGH. Cartilage and joint research: more recent work on chondrocyte activity, proteoglycan synthesis and cartilage matrix models. Human clinical trials: early-phase oral bioavailability and body composition trials (including Metabolic Pharmaceuticals programmes) with mixed reported outcomes; oral and injectable formulations were investigated. The compound is not an approved medicine.

  • 2 mg per application (one metered dose)
  • 5 doses per pen (10 mg total)
  • Pre-filled sterile solution — no reconstitution step required
  • Research rationale: adipose-specific fragment activity without GH-receptor-mediated IGF-1 elevation

Storage: Store refrigerated at 2–8 °C in the original sealed box. Do not freeze. Protect from light.

  • For in-vitro laboratory and preclinical research only — not for human or animal administration
  • Key research premise: fragment-specific adipose activity through beta-3 adrenergic pathways without GH-receptor signalling — confirm this profile is appropriate for each assay design
  • Not suitable for studies where GH receptor activation is a required or expected endpoint
  • Metabolic Pharmaceuticals Phase 2 data is the primary human reference; independent replication is limited

  • Metabolic Pharmaceuticals Phase 2 trials (Ho et al., Int J Obes 2001): well tolerated — no significant glucose, insulin or IGF-1 changes detected at studied dose ranges
  • Headache and mild fatigue reported in some Phase 2 subjects
  • No serious adverse events reported in published Phase 2 data
  • Long-term human safety data absent from the published literature

Effects listed are observations from published research literature and are not predictions for any specific use. All FAB Research products are for in-vitro laboratory research — not for human or animal administration.
